Contractor in SalemBigger projects, planned well ahead
Salem is about 59 miles from our Gresham shop, so we won't pretend it's local. We take on larger projects here, like roofing, siding, windows and painting, and schedule them well in advance so the work runs on full, steady days.

We'll be straight with you. Salem is a little over an hour's drive from our shop in Gresham, so we aren't the right call for a quick handyman fix or a same-week repair. What we do take on in Salem are bigger exterior projects: a roof replacement, new siding, a set of replacement windows, a full exterior repaint. Those jobs justify the drive, and we can plan them properly, with materials ordered ahead and the crew booked for full days on site.
Salem's older neighborhoods have many homes that suit that kind of work. Grant, Highland and the Court-Chemeketa area near downtown have early twentieth-century houses with wood siding and tall windows. South Salem and the Candalaria hills have midcentury homes under big trees. West Salem, across the river in Polk County, climbs into hills with views and more wind. A good number of those homes are now due for a second or third roof, or a full set of new windows.
Summers in the mid-valley run hot and dry, and winters are long and wet, with the odd ice storm. That swing is hard on paint and roofing, especially on south and west exposures. When we schedule a Salem roof replacement or repaint, we aim for the dry season and set dates early. Call us with the project, and we'll tell you honestly whether it is a fit and when we could start.
Neighbourhoods we work inHot summers, wet winters
Salem's summers run hot and dry and its winters long and wet. That swing works paint, caulk and roofing hard, especially on south and west walls. Shingles on sunny slopes age faster, and paint cracks where the wood moves. Doing a repaint or reroof in the dry months gives the new work the best possible start.
Older homes near downtown
Neighborhoods like Grant, Highland and Court-Chemeketa have homes from the early 1900s, many with original wood siding, tall windows and detailed trim. When we replace windows or siding on these houses, we keep the proportions and trim lines right. Homes in a historic district may need extra review first, so ask the city early.
Scheduled in advance
Because of the drive, we book Salem projects ahead of time and keep the crew on site for full days until the job is done. Small repairs and short handyman lists are better served by a crew based in town. We'll tell you up front if a permit is needed from the City of Salem or the county, and plan for it.
