Rooms thatfeel finished

Fresh paint changes how a room feels more than almost any other project. We do the slow part properly, patching, sanding, caulking and masking, so the color goes on clean and the lines stay sharp where wall meets trim and ceiling.

Interior Painting — a real job, gently animated

Interior painting looks simple until you see a job done well next to one done quickly.

The difference is almost all in the preparation.

The difference is almost all in the preparation. Before a brush touches the wall, our crew fills nail holes, repairs dents and cracks, caulks gaps along trim, scuff-sands glossy surfaces and spot-primes stains so they do not bleed through. Furniture is moved and covered, floors are protected, and cover plates come off rather than being painted around. That groundwork is what gives you a finish that holds up.

We paint walls, ceilings, baseboard, casing, crown, interior doors and stair railings in homes across Portland, Gresham, Happy Valley, Lake Oswego and West Linn. Cabinet painting is available too, with careful degreasing, sanding and a hard-wearing enamel. We help you choose sheens that suit each room: flat or matte for ceilings, eggshell or satin for living spaces, and semi-gloss for trim, doors and bathrooms where surfaces need to be wiped down regularly.

Because Triple SSS also handles drywall and finish carpentry, a painting project with us can include the repairs most painters will not touch: replacing a damaged section of drywall, re-securing loose trim or swapping tired baseboard before it is painted. As a family-owned house painter in Gresham, we keep the same crew in your home from the first day to the last. You get a free estimate in writing, a clear schedule, and your rooms put back in order when we finish.

Why it matters here.

Portland’s gray months mean we spend a lot of time indoors, and the walls get noticed.

They also take on more moisture. Bathrooms and kitchens with weak ventilation grow mildew on ceilings, and older homes in neighborhoods like Sellwood, Montavilla and central Gresham often have plaster walls, layers of old oil-based trim paint and hairline cracks that need proper prep. The rainy season is also a good time for interior painting, since it is when exterior work slows down and indoor projects are easier to fit in.

In their words.

Working with Shawn and Triple SSS was awesome! They are professional, courteous, on-time, and most importantly communicative in a way that I believe to be rare in contractors. My house finally feels like my home thanks to these guys!

Triple SSS Construction helped us with a couple of projects at our home to make it easier for us to age in place here. Shawn and his crew did excellent work, kept the work area clean and were respectful of our situation. We received a clear and inclusive bid within a reasonable time and the work was completed by the expected finish date.

How much does it cost to paint a room?

It depends on the size of the room, ceiling height, how much repair and prep the walls need, whether trim and ceilings are included and the color change involved. Going from dark to light takes more coats. We measure and look at the condition at the free estimate and give you a written price.

How long does interior painting take?

It depends on the size of the job, the repairs needed and drying time between coats. A single room can often be finished in a day or two, while a whole-house repaint takes longer. We give you a realistic schedule at the estimate and work in a sensible room order so you can keep living in the house.

Do I need to move my furniture before painters arrive?

Clearing small items, art and breakables helps, but you do not need to empty the room. We move and cover larger furniture ourselves and protect the floors. If there is anything fragile or valuable you would rather handle yourself, just let us know before we start.

What paint finish is best for walls?

For most living spaces, an eggshell or satin finish is a good balance of washability and a soft look. Flat or matte hides imperfections well on ceilings and low-traffic walls. Bathrooms, kitchens and trim do better with satin or semi-gloss, which stand up to moisture and cleaning. We recommend sheens room by room.

Can you paint over wallpaper or paneling?

Sometimes. Wood paneling can usually be cleaned, sanded, primed and painted. Wallpaper is trickier: if it is well bonded we may seal and paint it, but loose or layered paper is better removed first so the finish does not bubble. We look at the walls and recommend the approach that will last.
