Repairs youwill never find

Good drywall work is invisible. Whether it is a doorknob hole, a ceiling stained by an old leak or a whole room of new board, we tape, mud, sand and match the texture until the repair disappears under paint.

Drywall — a real job, gently animated

Drywall repair is one of the most common calls we get in Gresham and Portland, and one of the most underestimated.

Patching a hole is easy; making it vanish is not.

Patching a hole is easy; making it vanish is not. We cut damaged areas back to sound board, add backing where needed, set new drywall, tape with the right compound for the job, and feather each coat wide enough that no ridge shows when light rakes across the wall. Then we match the texture, whether that is smooth, orange peel, knockdown or an old hand-troweled finish.

Larger projects follow the same standard. As a drywall contractor in Gresham, we hang and finish drywall for basement and garage conversions, new interior walls, closet build-outs, and rooms opened up during a remodel. Moisture-resistant drywall goes into bathrooms and laundry areas, and fire-rated drywall where a wall or ceiling shared with an attached garage calls for it. Corners are beaded straight, screws are set to the right depth, and every seam is finished to a paint-ready surface.

Water damage is a big part of drywall work here. After a roof leak, a failed window or a burst supply line has been fixed, the ceiling or wall below is often stained, sagging or crumbling. We remove the wet board, let the cavity dry, replace insulation where needed, and rebuild the surface. Because we also handle roofing, windows and dry rot, we can usually trace the cause rather than just patch the symptom. Interior painting can follow straight after, with no second contractor to schedule.

Why it matters here.

Portland’s long wet season is hard on drywall, mostly indirectly.

Roof leaks, window leaks and condensation in poorly vented bathrooms show up first as stains and soft spots on walls and ceilings. Many older homes in Portland, Milwaukie and Gresham also have a mix of plaster and drywall from earlier remodels, which takes some care to blend. Settling and seasonal swings in humidity open cracks over doors every year. Drywall repair here usually means fixing a symptom, so we always ask what caused it first.

How much does drywall repair cost?

It depends on the size and number of repairs, whether a ceiling is involved, the texture we need to match and whether we are painting afterward. A few small patches and a water-damaged ceiling are very different jobs. We look at everything at the free estimate and give you one written price.

Can you match my wall texture?

Yes, in nearly every case. We match orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel and smooth walls, and we test on scrap or a small area first when the texture is unusual. Old hand-applied textures can take an extra pass to blend, and we tell you honestly what to expect before we start.

Should I replace drywall after a leak?

If the board is soft, sagging, crumbling or has been wet for more than a short time, it should come out so the cavity can dry and be checked for mold. Small, dry stains on sound board can often be sealed and painted. Either way, we make sure the leak itself has been fixed before closing anything up.

Why do drywall cracks keep coming back?

Cracks over doors and windows usually come from normal house movement, seasonal humidity or a seam that was never properly taped. Filling them with spackle rarely lasts. We cut out the crack, re-tape with paper or mesh and fresh compound, and feather it wide so the repair has a real chance of staying closed.

Do you paint after drywall repair?

Yes. We can prime and paint the repaired area, a full wall or the whole room, so the patch does not show as a different sheen or color. Interior painting is one of our core services, so the repair and the finish are handled by the same crew from start to finish.
