Contractor in SandyThe last town before the mountain
Sandy gets the mountain's weather before the rest of us do: more rain, more snow, longer wet spells. We repair and replace roofs, siding, windows and paint with that weather in mind, from the first estimate to the last coat.
Clackamas County, OR15 miles from our Gresham shop CCB #215023
Drive east on US 26 from Gresham and the air gets wetter. By Sandy you're in the Mt. Hood foothills, and the town sees noticeably more rain than Portland, plus snow and ice that can hang around for days. Roofs, decks and siding work harder up here. Moss takes hold quickly on shaded shingles, and paint on the sunny walls cycles between wet winters and bright summers. For roofing in Sandy, Oregon, that means close attention to underlayment, flashing and ventilation, not just the shingles you can see.
Sandy's housing has grown in waves. Older homes cluster around downtown, near Pioneer and Proctor Boulevards. Newer subdivisions stretch south into Bornstedt and out toward the edges of town, many of them built in the last few decades. Beyond the city limits, homes along the highway toward Marmot, Brightwood and Welches sit under deep forest. Each setting asks for something different, from a careful siding repair on an older house to a first full repaint on a newer one.
Sandy is about fifteen miles from our shop, well within our regular area. We do a lot of exterior painting in Sandy once the weather dries out, and roof and siding repairs through the wet months. When the forecast allows, we plan exterior work for dry stretches so paint and sealants cure properly. If the weather turns, we'll tell you and adjust the schedule rather than rush it. Small repairs in between are welcome too.
Neighbourhoods we work inMore rain, more snow
Sandy sits higher than the metro and closer to the mountain, so it tends to get more rain and more winter snow. Wet snow is heavy, and ice can build up along the eaves and back water under the shingles. Good attic ventilation and proper underlayment at the eaves help. After a snowy winter, check the ceilings near outside walls for stains.
Younger homes, early wear
Many Sandy homes were built in the last few decades, but the climate ages them fast. We see fading paint, failed caulk around windows and soft spots in trim on surprisingly young houses. Catching those early is small, steady work: scrape, repair, seal and repaint before water reaches the framing behind the siding.
Painting around the weather
Exterior paint needs dry wood and the right temperatures to cure, and the dry season in Sandy can be short. We book exterior painting and staining for the drier months and watch the forecast closely. We'll tell you up front if a permit is needed for anything beyond the paint, and keep you posted if rain moves the start date.

Do you work in Sandy and up the mountain?
We work throughout Sandy and in the communities just east of it along US 26. Beyond that, call us and describe the job. For bigger projects farther up the mountain, we'll talk honestly about scheduling and whether we are the right fit for the work you have in mind.
When is the best time to paint a house in Sandy?
Usually mid to late summer into early fall, once the siding has had time to dry out and nights aren't too cold. The dry window here is shorter than in Portland, so it helps to get on the schedule in spring. We set dates around the forecast, not the calendar.
Can you help with snow damage to a Sandy roof?
Yes. Heavy snow and ice can crack shingles, bend roof edges and push water under the eaves. We inspect the roof once it is safe, repair what is damaged and check the attic for leaks. If the roof is nearing the end of its life, we'll explain the options for replacing it.
Tell us about your house.
Send a few lines about the job and the best way to reach you. Shawn reads every message himself and calls back fast, usually the same day.
