The list,finally done
Most houses carry a running list of small jobs nobody has had time for. Send us yours. One licensed, insured crew handles the repairs, carpentry and outdoor fixes in a single visit, without you lining up a different person for every item.
Triple SSS Construction offers handyman services across Gresham, Portland, Troutdale, Fairview, Happy Valley and the surrounding towns.
The difference from a typical handyman is that we are a licensed and insured contractor, CCB #215023, with the tools and carpentry background for larger work.
The difference from a typical handyman is that we are a licensed and insured contractor, CCB #215023, with the tools and carpentry background for larger work. So when a sticking door turns out to have a rotted jamb, or a loose railing is fastened to a soft rim joist, we can fix the real problem in the same visit instead of covering it up.
A handyman visit usually mixes inside and outside work. Inside: doors that drag, trim that has pulled away, drywall patches, caulking around tubs and windows, shelves, grab bars, TV mounting and furniture assembly. Outside: dry rot in trim and sills, fence boards and gates, deck boards and steps, and the small exterior repairs that are easy to put off until the rain finds them. We group the list by trade and location so the day runs efficiently and nothing gets missed.
There are two things we do not do: electrical wiring and plumbing. Oregon requires separate licenses for both, and we would rather tell you that up front than cut corners. Mounting a TV near an existing outlet, swapping cabinet pulls or installing a grab bar is fine; moving an outlet or replacing a faucet is a job for a licensed electrician or plumber. Everything else on a normal home repair list is fair game, and a handyman estimate is always free.

Why it matters here.
Portland-area houses generate a particular kind of to-do list.
Months of rain mean caulk fails, exterior trim and sills rot, fence posts soften at the ground and deck boards go slick and spongy. Older homes in Portland, Gresham and Milwaukie have settled over decades, so doors rub and trim gaps open up. Newer subdivisions in Happy Valley and Damascus bring builder-grade railings, hardware and closets that wear out quickly. Getting these things done before winter costs less than fixing what the water finds later, which is why so much Portland handyman work lands in early fall.
Seven ways we help.

Home Repairs
The door that has to be shouldered shut, the railing that moves, the caulk line gone black.

Carpentry & Trim
Finish carpentry is where a room gets its character.

Dry Rot Repair
In a climate this wet, rot is not a question of if but where.

Deck & Fence Repair
Decks and fences take more weather than anything else you own outdoors.

Aging in Place
Most people would rather stay in the home they know.

Mounting & Assembly
The heavy mirror you have not hung, the flat-pack wardrobe still in its box, the TV leaning against the wall.

In their words.
Shawn did an excellent job building a wall in my office. Solid construction, and everything is so plumb that I keep getting comments on how smoothly the door closes! He arrived on time, with all supplies and tools needed.
Triple SSS is responsive, their work is clean, their pricing is reasonable, and everybody who shows up at your house is going to be professional and courteous. Most importantly, for me, I know my parents are in good hands when Triple SSS shows up at their house.
We used Shawn for multiple projects. Always done right the first time and at a reasonable price. He is professional, honest, and really knows his stuff. Highly recommended.

Do I need a licensed contractor for handyman work in Oregon?
Oregon’s Construction Contractors Board sets the rules on which jobs need a licensed contractor, and you can look up any business on the CCB website before you hire. Triple SSS is licensed and insured under CCB #215023, so you do not have to wonder whether a repair is too big for the person doing it.
How do you charge for handyman services?
It depends on the list. We look at every item at a free walkthrough and give you a written price for the job as a whole, so you know the cost before work starts. Larger items, like a deck stair rebuild or a stretch of rotted siding, are priced on their own so you can decide what to tackle first.
Can you do several small jobs in one visit?
Yes, and that is the best way to use a handyman. Grouping a dozen small repairs into one visit means one trip, one set-up and one clean-up. Send us the whole list with photos if you can, and we will tell you what fits in a day and what needs a separate visit.
Do you do electrical or plumbing work?
No. Oregon requires separate electrical and plumbing licenses, and we do not hold them. We can mount a TV near an existing outlet, install grab bars, swap cabinet hardware and handle the carpentry around a project, but wiring, new outlets, light fixtures, faucets and drains go to a licensed electrician or plumber.
What does a handyman do?
A good handyman handles the small and medium repairs that keep a house in working order: doors, trim, drywall patches, caulking, mounting, assembly, fence and deck repairs, and rot fixes. Our handyman service adds the carpentry skills of a licensed contractor, so larger problems found along the way are fixed properly rather than patched.
