Hung level,built solid

The heavy mirror you have not hung, the flat-pack wardrobe still in its box, the TV leaning against the wall. We mount and assemble it properly, into studs or the right anchors, level and square, and take the packaging away with us.

Mounting & Assembly — a real job, gently animated

TV mounting looks like a simple job, and it is easy to get wrong.

A modern TV on an articulating mount puts a lot of leverage on the wall, so we locate studs, check what the wall is made of, and use hardware rated for the load.

A modern TV on an articulating mount puts a lot of leverage on the wall, so we locate studs, check what the wall is made of, and use hardware rated for the load. We mount at a comfortable viewing height, keep the screen level, and tidy cords along the wall with a paintable cover. We do not run power or cables inside walls; that is electrical work, and it needs a licensed electrician.

Beyond TVs, we hang the things that make a house feel lived in: floating shelves, heavy mirrors, gallery walls, curtain rods and blinds, coat hooks and bathroom accessories. Lath-and-plaster walls in older Portland homes, brick and tile each need their own approach, and we bring the right drills and anchors for each. Everything is laid out and checked with you before the first hole is drilled, so the spacing and heights look right from where you actually stand.

Assembly is the other half of the job. We put together flat-pack furniture, beds, desks, wardrobes, outdoor furniture and play sets, and we install closet organizer systems and garage storage. For families with small children, we fit baby gates, cabinet locks and anti-tip straps. Triple SSS is a licensed and insured, family-owned crew serving Gresham, Portland, Troutdale and Happy Valley, and we are glad to fold mounting and assembly into one visit with other jobs on your list.

Why it matters here.

Portland homes vary a lot behind the paint.

Early 1900s houses in Southeast and North Portland often have lath-and-plaster walls that crack if drilled carelessly. Mid-century homes in Gresham and Parkrose may have paneling, brick fireplaces or unusual stud spacing. Newer builds in Happy Valley have thin drywall and fewer studs where you want them. Knowing what is inside the wall is most of the job, and it is why a mounted TV or heavy mirror is best put up by a crew that also builds and repairs walls.

In their words.

Shawn did an excellent job building a wall in my office. Solid construction, and everything is so plumb that I keep getting comments on how smoothly the door closes! He arrived on time, with all supplies and tools needed.

Working with Shawn and Triple SSS was awesome! They are professional, courteous, on-time, and most importantly communicative in a way that I believe to be rare in contractors. My house finally feels like my home thanks to these guys!

Asked & answered.

Don’t see yours? Call (503) 781-2093.

How high should a TV be mounted?

It depends on the room and where you sit, but most people are comfortable with the center of the screen at roughly eye level when seated. Mounting over a fireplace usually calls for a tilting or pull-down mount. We check sightlines with you on site before choosing the height and the mount.

Can you hide the TV wires in the wall?

We do not run cables or power inside walls, because in Oregon that falls under electrical licensing. We can mount the TV close to an existing outlet and tidy the cords with a paintable cord cover that runs neatly down the wall. For in-wall power, you would need a licensed electrician.

Can you mount a TV on a brick fireplace or plaster wall?

Yes. Brick and masonry need masonry anchors placed with care in solid material. Lath-and-plaster walls need careful drilling and fasteners long enough to reach the studs behind. We assess the wall first and use hardware rated for both the TV and the mount.

Do you assemble IKEA furniture?

Yes, along with most other flat-pack brands. We assemble beds, wardrobes, dressers, desks, shelving and outdoor furniture, and anchor tall pieces to the wall to prevent tipping. Several pieces can be done in one visit, and we take the boxes and packaging away when we leave.

What does baby-proofing include?

It depends on your home and the age of your child. Usually it means hardware-mounted gates at the top of stairs, cabinet and drawer locks, anti-tip straps on dressers, bookcases and TVs, and securing blind cords out of reach. We walk through the house with you and install what makes sense.
